The Gems project has been running since 1983 and works with the older members of our community delivering a variety of activities each week with additional activities at times throughout the year. The project provides opportunities for older people to make friends, participate in healthy activities, opportunities to learn a new skill, enjoy a nutritional meal, access the local supermarket and enjoy the occasional day trip out.

“We aim to combat the isolation and loneliness often experienced by the older people in our community by providing activities and healthy meals, together with opportunities to meet with others and socialise.”

Throughout the year Gems also provides home visits, hospital visiting, bereavement counselling, liaison with families and social workers as well as prayer and friendship. There are also trips out at various times, particularly during the summer.
